Farewell to Ioana

A few weeks ago our class mate Ioana left Dawson school to go to a school closer to her house.

Apryl, Courage and Stella were very close with Ioana. Courage first met Ioana at the 2013 family fun day. Apryl and Stella met Ioana in Room 17.

Ioana was a splendid, sensational, awesome, stunning, spectacular friend and singer. She was also an amazing sports player.

Miss Karaka misses Ioana's beautiful voice and smile!!! She was very good at being a supportive class mate. When someone was feeling down she would cheer them up with her beautiful smile. As well as being a good class mate she was an even better and AMAZING BEST friend.   

Ioana is sadly missed by her class mates and her BEST FRIENDS!!!!!!

The Worm farm

                                                

This is Apryl reading the instuctions for the worm farm with Amethyst and Piri listening carefully.

These are the instructions for the worm tray and how to build it.

These are the worms in the soil that they are going to put in the tray.

This is everyone working as a team pouring the water into the tray.

This is the worms food and it's pretty much what they eat.

This is one thousand worms being put in to the try. Miss Davies was lovely enough to get the worms for us.

Now to leave the worms for a few days to get use to their new home before we start feeding them out scrapes. I wonder what food they like to eat?

How to Draw a House

If you follow these instructions you will draw a house.

You will need:

a pencil

coloring pencils

A4 paper

a ruler

Method:

Step 1-Draw a square in the middle of the paper. 

Step 2-Draw a triangle on top of the square.

Step 3-Draw 2 small squares in the top corners of the big square.

Step 4-Draw 2 plus signs inside the small square.

Step 5-Draw stripes in the triangle going across instead of up and down.

Step 6-Draw a chimney on the roof of the house.    

Step 7-Draw a little rectangle for the door and a small circle for the door handle. 

Step 8-Draw flowers beside the house.

Step 9-Colour in the picture.

Check:Your house should look pretty and colorful.

All About Maths

Today we have been working in small groups. We have learnt to use a range of strategies to solve a given word problem. This means that we have to come up with more than one way to solve the maths equations Miss Karaka gives us.

At the end we share all the different ways we have used to figure out the equation, for example:

Adding and subtracting using tens and ones

34-12+26        45-14

30-10=20        40-10=30

4-2=2              5-4=1

26+22=48       30+1=31

Today we were playing softball on the field.

Some people were learning how to bat and bunt for our games on Wednesday. Mr Pattison is our coach. Good luck girls and boys who are going to the tournament, Go Dawson!
